Kimberlee Foster Coaching Newsletter Coming To Our Senses
October 2006 | Issue #6

Hi Kimberlee,

Fall: my favorite time of year. Earlier this month I had the good fortune to visit my hometown in Upstate New York. What a treat – seeing the brilliant colors, smelling pine trees, hearing the wind, feeling the crisp air on my skin ...

Fall's a special time of year. A time when nature releases the old and hibernation begins. It’s a natural time to go inward and incubate seeds of renewal. What will you let go of this year? What seeds will you incubate for next year?

We are approaching a traditionally stressful time of the year, often filled with obligation and overwhelm. This month’s feature article offers a new perspective on time and includes the “Top 8 Strategies for Reducing Stress & Overwhelm.”

My hope is that this article will inspire you to slow down and create more time to enjoy your life, your self and the holidays. Start practicing now, before things escalate, and maybe you’ll have a different experience this year ... or at least something interesting to incubate during the winter.

Here’s to slowing down!
Kimberlee

    Feature Article
    by Kimberlee Foster, CPCC

The other day, in a tone wrought with frustration, my brother Brian blurted: “I just wanna get away from everything and go into the wilderness!” What!? (I thought) YOU TOO? I’ve been feeling like running away from life for a while now!

So I got curious about what’s going on; why more and more of us are feeling overwhelmed, exhausted - spent! Scheduling “face-time” with colleagues and friends takes hours of back and forth emails (or phone-tag), and weeks or months go by before we actually meet. More and more clients come to me wanting “more time for [themselves],” “more time to exercise,” “more fun,” “more balance.”

Then I got a clue - in the book Timeshifting by Stephan Rechtschaffen (recommended in September’s ezine). Rechtschaffen presents a brand new perspective about time. New to me anyway. His theory opened my eyes to what’s going on – and more importantly, to how I’ve become a part of it. “It” is how we have become “entrained”* to the outrageously out-of-control, frantic pace of modern society.

Ishmael; An Adventure of the Mind and Spirit - by Daniel Quinn

A fascinating lesson for saving our planet, taught by an unusual teacher. This book was written in 1992 and still we haven't "gotten it."

Consider what actions you can take weekly that would benefit our planet.
