Greetings,
Ah,
September! Kids are back to school; adults are back to old routines (or perhaps
new ones). And I’m back to writing! I do hope you all had a satisfying summer.
I sure did! In August, I had the privilege of attending my first coach's retreat
in Colorado. Here I am at 11,273 ft, overlooking Breckenridge. After the
retreat, I hung out for a few days in Boulder: biking, hiking and soaking in the
beauty of the majestic Rocky Mountains. There's nothing like a bunch of coaches
and a major dose of nature for rejuvenation! This month’s feature article
was inspired by my Colorado colleagues and deepened by my fearless dog and courageous
clients. I hope it inspires you as well. Here's to boldness! Kimberlee

Do You See in the Mirror?

Feature
Article by Kimberlee Foster, CPCC I had an "ah-ha" moment at the coach's
retreat (at least one!). In the richness of our discussions, the concept of boldness
bubbled up. There's even a clever greeting card that depicts it: a cat looking
in a mirror, reflecting a lion. Remember July’s
article about Karli herding those huge cows? Well, it dawned on me at the
retreat that what my little 12 pound “cocka-terror-poo” sees in the mirror is
a Rottweiler (or Gazelle or Bison!?). Notice where she’s looking in this picture.
It’s not at her petite size XS, it’s at the bigger animal: the size XXL -- the
daring, courageous and bold one! So all this got me thinking more deeply
about how we act and think as a result of who we believe ourselves to be. What
I’ve learned (and witnessed) is how our actions, choices, and attitudes are
shaped by our beliefs. Reminds me of the famous quote by Henry Ford, “If
you think you can or think you can’t, you’re right.” |

Traits of Successful Business Women
|
The other day, at a Chamber luncheon, I heard an inspiring talk given
by Liz Cornish (FHD Consulting and author of “Hit
the Ground Running: the Woman’s Guide to Success for the First 100 Days on the
Job”). Liz interviewed hundreds of highly successful business women
to satisfy her own curiosity about what was unique about these women that allowed
them to achieve great success. With Liz’s permission, I’m sharing with you the
seven traits they all had in common. |

you aren’t but you know someone who is, please read on! My dear friend
and colleague, Shekinah Shephard, and I are developing a wellness coaching
program to support and serve women through all stages of their mid-life journey.
We believe this is an extraordinary and sacred time of a woman’s life.
A time when she has the opportunity to tap into her innate wisdom, stand fully
in her essence and use her most eloquent, powerful voice ... and live a healthy
and meaningful life from there. We need your help! In order to
create the most effective and powerful program, we need to talk to lots of
women who are in any one of these stages. We want to hear your stories, concerns,
discoveries, surprises. And as a thank you gift for your time, we are offering
a 30-minute complimentary coaching session by phone. If you are interested
in participating in our research (or know someone who may be) please email
or call me at 707-526-2386 (PST). These interviews are only 30 minutes and will
be conducted by phone. Please don’t sit home alone, lamenting over pictures
when you were a skinny 20-something! Come out and discover how you can transition
into and through your “third age” with radiance, grace and humor.
